Leila Molaei

With her family roots in the Gulf, Leila Molaei has been performing, as well as training students in Arab dance, since 2005. Based in London she teaches the dances of Egypt, The Levant, and the Gulf region. Having taught & performed widely amongst the British Arab community, Leila has also sat on panels, given lectures & workshops internationally, most notably in the USA and Europe. Her aim is to preserve and promote the roots of Middle Eastern dance, and this feeling is conveyed in her performances.

Based in the heart of the London Gulf cultural scene, she also regularly travels to the GCC, and along with her Middle Eastern cultural heritage, she provides her students with a unique cultural & musical insight which keeps abreast of changing trends, with authenticity & tradition at its core.

Leila will be delivering workshops on Iraqi dance and Khaliji(Gulf) dance at Celebrating Dance 2019, as well as giving workshop attendees the chance to perform a group choreography.

Celebrating Dance is an annual dance festival held each October at the Toorak Hotel in Torquay, Devon. It is the only belly dance festival in the UK that is held in a 3 Star hotel and has a strong reputation for its friendly & fun atmosphere, offering quality workshops from international stars and popular UK-based teachers. It was created and run for 16 years by International Teacher & Performer Afra al Kahira & John F Hancock. Although Afra & John remain on the team, from 2017 they have handed over the reins to new Group Organiser Nikki Livermore a well-respected Teacher & Performer.
