Maikki Fonnelop

Maikki is an oriental dance teacher and choreographer from Norway. She has studied classical ballet from an early age, but has for 13 years devoted her life strictly to Egyptian dance. For three years she served as the board leader of Al Farah, the Norwegian national association for oriental dance, and she has completed the Al Andalus Teacher Certificate Program (AATEC). Additionally she holds a Master’s degree in International Relations with Middle East specialization, and she is the organizer of Baladi Camp, the only live music/dance education program in Norway. Maikki is known as a generous and inspiring teacher. She is a sought-after dance coach, and her expertise includes all the folkloric styles from Egypt.

Maikki will be teaching the following workshops:

  • Baladi. A true bint el balad is strong, sensual and playful. Add personality and emotions to your dancing, and you will discover the beauty that lies within.
  • Oriental Choreography. Egyptian Oriental – Expression, passion and grace are key elements of this choreography. We will use a variety of travel steps, add beautiful arms and work with some layered movements.
  • An introduction to Nubian Dance. This fun and relaxed dance will for sure put a smile on your face. No wonder the people of Nubia are considered the happiest Egyptians!
