Wendy Hughes

Wendy discovered Oriental bellydance in 2002, has studied hard & taken workshops with some of the greatest bellydance teachers. Wendy is accredited with the JWAAD Diploma, the community education teaching certificate ETO1, & spent 4 years studying with Afra Al Kahira. Ever on the search for her true passion & love in dance, it was at a workshop Paulette Rees-Denis, that she found Gypsy Caravan Tribal BellyDance® & fell head over heels in love with this feminine, powerful, earthy, but grounded & eclectic, community dance. Wendy then went on to train with Paulette, in Milan twice & Florida,  gaining Collective Soul Levels 1 – 6, and Teacher Training Levels 1 – 3, and continues with her studies with Paulette, in person & online. On her recent trip to Florida, Wendy also qualified as a Tribal Grooves® Instructor Levels 1 & 2. Using Gypsy Caravan moves & combinations to Gypsy Caravan, MED music, & funky dance tracks, this is a new style of tribal bellydance class, to dance & improve your fitness.

Wendy is an original member of The Caravan Project UK & recently appointed the director for The Caravan Project Wales.

Her reputation is growing throughout the UK, and is fast becoming known as a compassionate, empathic & thorough teacher. Wendy’s ability to break down the moves, from the basic steps to the more complicated combinations, is born out of pure devotion, her dedication & love for the dance & her raw passion to share this dance with others. Her style of teaching is inclusive and she works from the ethic that nothing is impossible and everything can be achievable.

Her troupe Topaz Tribal are the first sister troupe in the UK and are dedicated to Gypsy Caravan Tribal BellyDance® which reflects in their dance, their performance and their costuming.
